removing barriers in West Dayton

Removing barriers to health for kids can mean many different things to different families. In west Dayton, we know many families are impacted by a lack of access to essential services: from health care and mental health services, healthy food choices, social services, educational and job opportunities, and much more.

Dayton Children’s Hospital is invested in our kids’ futures. That’s why we’re investing in our community.

The Hope Zone

The Hope Zone is 17-neighborhood area in west Dayton, historically underprioritized. The focus point is the Omega CDC Hope Center for Families, where families can access the support and resources they need to thrive.

Dayton Children’s Pediatrics Northwest is located in the Hope Center. The clinic focuses on medical and mental health care, as well as:

  • Prioritizing infant and maternal health
  • Connecting families to healthy and fresh foods
  • Supporting social emotional health for young people
  • Encouraging well-child checks and other preventive care

The Hope Center clinic reflects our commitment to reinventing the path to children’s health and Dayton Children’s mission to pursue optimal health for every child within our reach.

“Within the Hope Zone, we’re focused on addressing any health disparities that impact children and families in this community while meeting them where they are,” says Brenden Wynn, service line director of general pediatrics and operational leader.

Omega CDC has coordinated 33 community organizations, including Dayton Children’s, to make an impact on more than 6,700 children in the neighborhood.  Together with these partners, Dayton Children’s is helping remove barriers to health while inspiring hope in the community.

Sunlight Village

To create a new center in West Dayton focused on the total health of local children, Dayton Children’s Hospital has partnered with Sunlight Village, a non-profit organization that provides mental health and support services in Montgomery County, and CityWide Development Corporation. Sunlight Village will address the physical, social, mental and nutritional health needs of children in West Dayton.
